Default Buying new car during virus lockdown

It seems to me that there might be some really good discounts about at the moment, especially for new cars.

So I was wondering if it's worth thinking about buying now and storing the car until the lease on my current car runs out in two years. I'm thinking about a Jaguar E Pace or F Pace for my next car.

I would have thought dealers would be willing to offer big discounts for a quick cash sale, seeing as car sales are so low right now.

Having written this down, it does sound a bit on the odd side. Hell, I may not even be alive in a couple of years.

So anyone wish to offer a comment on buying a new car for storage?

That’s an awful lot of cash to have tied up for 2 years, plus if it’s registered you would have to get it serviced to maintain the warranty & you would probably want it insured as well. I’d also want it stored under cover if it were mine ..... Just random thoughts .......

Ridiculous idea..
2 years depreciation and 2 years warranty down the pan...
You'd be better off having a bonfire with the cash....
Cash is of little interest to dealers as they prefer finance all day long.
So thinking cash is king is likely to get you a worst deal!!
Dealers get commission and kick backs from finance companies .
If you want the best deal finance the lot then settle with the finance company asap.

Are dealers open? I would have thought they would be closed.

Not sure the economic sense is quite there. You would imagine there will be some deals but not convinced they will be that good.

My lease car goes back in 12 weeks. For the first time in 20yrs I'm going back to buying, likely a 3yr old car around the 15k mark. I'm hoping I may get a bit more for my money, assuming my own company survives 😳

In January I treated myself to a 5 year old Toyota Auris Hybrid estate.

I was a cash customer. I didn't get a penny off the car price.

Definitely finance is the preferred customer.

The Toyota dealers are all shut, so doubt you would get to view/test drive.

My relative had a Jaguar E pace.

Went back to volvo and got a V90. He leases them as changes every few years.
His wife is on her third XC60 He seems to like Volvo.

A lot can change in a short amount of time, nevermind two years. Buying a new car & storing it for that length of time is just a waste of money. Get a new car when the lease on your existing one is up would be my advice.

Best way if you have the cash is to take the finance deal, get all the sweeteners and incentives, once the cars yours pay off the finance and avoid the interest. You can save thousands.

What part of essential shopping only do you not quite get yet?

Just sticking to the adjective leaves it closed to interpretation....
