Black Plastic Trim
Does anyone have a recommendation as to the best product to use to keep the black plastic trim on my Cross Country looking good and not discolouring over time?

Autoglym Bumper and Trim Gel is also a nice product - I've been very impressed with it. Give it a good 15 minutes to soak/dry then buff off and it's superb.

If you haven't bought anything yet, I'd very strongly recommended 303 Aerospace Protectant:
http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/interi.../prod_366.html You can find it a bit cheaper on ebay, but it really is great stuff. It doesn't just make it look nice, it treats the plastic and stops it from discolouring - I think there is UV protection in it. Review here: http://www.detailedimage.com/Ask-a-P...iew-and-guide/ |

Boiled linseed oil!! NOT A WIND UP!!! Used it on my XC70 and restored to black almost immediately. Only thing you have to be careful about is that it must be done on a dry day otherwise rain causes it to mottle. Not a lasting effect and can be removed by wiping it over with the oily duster. Plastic is slightly sticky overnight but no probs within 18hrs.
There is another thread on the forum relating to this. Peanut butter is also advocated as the oils refurb the plastic! Paul.................... |

I'm a big advocate of using Simoniz Bumper and Tyre Gel on both mine and my gfs car. She has an old Ka so it brings all that plastic out a treat!

NO. Linseed oil degrades plastics and rubber. That's why it's not allowed in the regs to use mastics containing linseed oil on plastic plumbing fittings.
