Picked up my V40 XC today. Very happy
Picked up my V40 XC today 63 plate D2 SE, with Full Leather, LCD Dash, Winter Pack and illuminated gear knob (why I dont know?) which had done 220 miles.
Excellent drive and very refined engine for a 1.6L D But the fuel economy is fantastic I have got 63 MPG today, how the hell they get that out of a car at this weight is fantastic. Just came from a 1.6L 120BHP Chrysler Delta and the Delta seems course, slow and uneconomical compared to the V40. Even though the V40 is supposedly slower? Presume it is just the short 1st and 2nd gear on 0-60 times that make it look slower. So this is my 5th Volvo (440, 850 and S4 T4 and a S70) planing on keeping this one for a long time as I am getting too old now for changing cars every year or so. |

Youve got me all excited now. I'm due to get my new 64 plate, V40 XC Lux Nav with the new D4 engine in a couple of weeks. Cant wait.
Youre right, its insane how this has 400Nm torque which is putting it up there with BMWs and Audis that I have owned in the past, and yet still delivers ( a claimed ) 74 mpg. And best of all, £20 road tax. Amazing!!!! Enjoy your car. |

One of the best cars Volvo ever made I think. just lovely to drive. I bought it for my wife but I can never get enough of it.

My annoyance is though, unless i have missed it, is there is no clock when you turn off the info-tainment, just because I'm not listening to music doesn't mean i don't want to know the time - grr.

Yes, I wonder why they thought no one needs to quickly know the time or total mileage. The mileage thing is especially awkward when a garage has to ask you because they can't work out how to bring it up and you can't remember either.

Tick Tock
The V60 is similarly shy of telling you the time when the radio set up is off!
I am pondering about this, but as an interim measure have put a small LED clock at the bottom end of the shutter which covers the cubby hole between the 2 front seats with Velcro! The shutter still opens enough for me to see my TPM readout which sits in the cig lighter 'ole in the cubby box, but aren't we supposed to "keep our eyes on the road"? With apologies to Mick Sarne/Wendy Richards! Bhowani V60 T3 1 year old next week |

I'm lucky as the time is constantly in the bottom right hand corner of the dash if you have the LCD dash.
