If Pringle_addict doesn't want the heater unit...I'm still looking for one as a last attempt to get mine back on the road.
Cheers Dave |

I might have one more very soon. I am in the process of converting mine from standard aircon to Climate, so I will have a spare unit very soon.

Cheers!
Mine has been with the main dealer for over a week now with no progress. VADIS still can't communicate with the new unit. At least they have made the offer that the only charge will be for reprogramming (£45) when it is done (if ever). Technician sees it as a "project" now as the car is 9 years old it is considered archive material! |

I agree - seems odd. The unit should work - the only programming it needs is to set the temperatures for the heated seats and time delay for the heated rear window. The fact it refuses to work must be down to something upstream of it - maybe the CEM needs to send a signal? Don't know, and I'm not sure the Volvo guy does either! Electronics have a habit of behaving in unusual ways, especially if they have as many dependencies as this unit has. Then again, it could just be a frayed wire in the loom! The wiring diagram points to inputs and outputs all over the place. Thanks for your offer - very much appreciated and good luck with upgrading yours.

I will try to study the wiring diagrams and see where the earth points are. What year/model is your car again?

It's a 2002 V40 1.9TD with the winter pack heater controls, AC only, not full climate.
I'll dig them out and go over them again too. Cheers Dave |

No connection to the ECU. However one thing that surprised me was the connection 1.7 and 2.11 to the CEM. I would most probably rule out corrosion in the main loom under the radiator as it does not appear to be anywhere near the schematics of the heater control panel.
There seem to be 2 ground points in the diagram; 31/1 and 31/2. Those 2 would need to be checked. If all else fails I could also send you the CEM which is easy to plug in and see if it makes a difference.

I got in late today so didn't get a chance yet to clean the wheels and take photos of them. Will do so tomorrow.
