Good point, behind the waterfall on the verical facia panel there is a sensor behind a little grille and that wire looks like it'd fall just where it needs to be.

No its not that sensor. That has a green plug to it, and is connected.

I found the same connection when I was fitting a DAB aerial, its been left with nothing plugged into it since December with no issues.

I’d hazard a guess its pre-wiring for either the dash speaker or satnav, neither of which I have, maybe someone with those could confirm?

from memory of taking my C70 glovebox apart some time ago there's a connector to the glove box key switch that enables/disables valet mode - valet mode was an option so maybe the wire is there on all cars just not connected
