Default sunroof motor missing its cog......

Hi all, just bought a 2010 V50 SE LUX with sat nav and sunroof. Great car but only problem i have when i bought it private was that the sunroof had no power to the motor. Hoping for a cheap fuse fix turned out not to be the case. Under further inspection by removing the light console i noticed the electrical plug had been disconnected from the motor. Connected the plug back into the motor and the it started working but not operating the sunroof. next stage to remove the motor and once inspected i noticed the cog is missing that engages the cables! seems very strange for someone to unplug the supply and remove the cog.
my question is...... can you buy a replacement cog rather than a new motor so i can investigate further.
thanks in advance.
