When I had a 440 mine used to leak from behind the tailights until I sealed them with silicone. I think they should have seals though? can't remember. I also got water leaking through the rear window it used to collect in the corners & in the middle of the bottom of the seal. It then used to run into the boot, under the rear seats & into the footwells behind the front seats. Also whenever I shut the tailgate & opened it water would be puddled by the latch! It would collect in the tailgate & take ages to get it all out.

Hi,

Do you have a sunroof?
May be the drain pipes for that are blocked..?

Could be that the footwell is the end point for water.?
But check the door drain holes - both front and rear.
You'll need to remove the door panel to have a look.
Also check the state of the window seals and door seals..

Is this water just water? Or is it coolant contaminated??

Des. . .

Maybe it's collecting somewhere or coming in from splashes from the road. My old Renault always used to have damp carpets in the back, and if you left it ages it smelt of mould inside! I think the floor had rusted somehow and gone pourous. Check underneath yours to see if there is any evidence of lack of seals etc. or rust I would do.

I agree with Firebolt...my 440 used to get damp in the rear footwells for some unexplained reason. Then one day we were caught in a heavy storm and within 5 minutes, there was enough water on the rear floor to keep a couple of Koi Carp!! The local dealer traced it to a tail-light cluster, sealed it, and its never happened again. He said the water was pouring across the boot and under the rear seats. Cheers Sarumboy.
