Just google 'car care plan' .... they seem to be the bottom of the pile re extended warranties..
some say to avoid at all costs... usually your own! |

Marshall Volvo in Milton Keynes could offer me two plans:
One point to note about the official Volvo Extended Warranty - it can be transferred to a new private owner but not to a garage so it's worthless when you trade the car in (which I am now doing...)

I'd take the Volvo extended warranty...
I'm glad I took out the 'Volvo' extended warranty, even if it is Car Care Plan who administer it and not really Volvo.
I did look around at other 3rd party warranties, but given that the prices were roughly comparable with the Volvo offering for the same/similar level of cover, I ended up taking the Volvo extended warranty. A few months later (Car 3 1/2 years old, 61,000 miles, FVSH, XC60 D4) it started losing a small amount of radiator coolant. Not a huge amount, and sporadic, so difficult to identify where it was leaking from. I took it to the dealer who had it for 8 days, carrying out various diagnostics and eventually they determined that the cylinder head gasket had failed. They dealt directly with Car Care Plan, with no intervention from me and got the car sorted under warranty (Thankfully as it would have been around £2500 otherwise). I'm sure having a good relationship with the dealer helped - TMS Volvo Hinckley - I've used them for years and highly recommend them. The advantage of the Volvo extended warranty is that the dealers will liaise directly with the warranty administrator, so no additional hassle for the car owner. Needless to say, I'll be taking out the Volvo extended warranty on my current vehicle as soon as it gets to three years old. |

Interesting read as this is something I am considering as my 17 reg is coming to the end of the warranty period.
I would also like to extend the VOC service to ensure Spotify and vehicle tracking via app still works. Does anyone have any experience in this? Does it matter who you take the extended warranty from? My local dealer is Northampton however as I work in Milton Keynes I am also considering that dealership.

https://volvoextendedwarranty.motor-...icle-details-1 I was also told that I would be notified approximately two months before my car is 3 years old and given the option to take out the extended warranty. tem.

Clicked on the link on the previous post and extending my XC90 Volvo Warranty to 4 yrs in total is a possibility on the web site at a cost of £445 for 60,000 miles (whichever comes sooner - the years or the mileage) or £495 for 4 yrs or 80,000 miles (whichever comes sooner - the years or the mileage).
It didn't seem possible to extend to 5yrs total on the web site so we rang Volvo to ask about doing this. Yes. It is possible to extend to 5yrs but you have to do this through a dealership. Such a Warranty is a bono fido Volvo Warranty and there are a few exclusions, such as hoses, brake components, exhaust pipes and similarly obvious stuff but Electrics and Mechanicals are included. The cost is £895 for 5yrs or 100,000 miles (whichever comes sooner). As others have reminded us: An Extended Warranty is of absolutely no benefit to any dealership and is therefore a valueless feature if you offer the vehicle up in part exchange. Taking out a vehicle Warranty Extension is only going to be of any use to you if you are going to be Selling The Vehicle Yourself. Last edited by Begonia; Jun 11th, 2019 at 13:42. |

When I request a quote from Warranty Direct, selecting all their cover options the price for 12 months cover is £293.12. Quite a bit less than the £445 Volvo are asking for. Anybody any experiences of using them?
**Ignore this - I just did a search**
