Thanks ... I have four boxes of electrical fittings so maybe there is something there but, I doubt it.

Looking at the existing connections from the loom the connector appears to be something of the age. It is small and is weather protected with two little 'pinch tabs' to separate.

With the MOT tomorrow I haven't dared to fiddle down there in case I disrupt the flow of electrons to whatever is making a 'hoot'.

If you want to pm your address I can pop some connectors in post tomorrow ?

I wont be needing all of them so can easily fire 6 or so in an envelope

Cheers, Mark

I really haven't looked into the connectors for as said don't want to upset the flow of electrons until after the MOT tomorrow but, they seem very small and as you say are shrouded with two pinch tabs on either side of the connectors to allow release .... after 30 years that may be more of a fanciful hope!! If I can avoid mutilating the loom I shall do so as I detest doing that sort of thing but, if needs must.

Bob.

I didn't think of that Mark. Should have done, seen enough of them like it!

I would have done similar with the bracket, either derusted it electrolytically or media-blasted it and painted it.

Although in hindsight I should've removed the horns first as they were a bugger to remove from the bracket off the car. Couldn't get the required purchase

You would probably have bent the bracket if you left it on the car Mark. Electrolytic derusting would have loosened the fastenings though.

At least the old hooters made a noise today sufficient to get the car another year's lease of life well into it's 30th year.

Unfortunately not too impressed with the n/s Nivo (notwithstanding my efforts ... it's a lost cause now!) that got returned to the 'Advisory - Monitor and repair if necessary' Division and, will be replaced shortly just as soon as I have finished putting together my spares but, wonder of wonders, that 'event' is very near to completion.

The replacement new hooters are still awaited but not due to arrive untill the end of the week.
