Front parking sensors
Hi,
I have rear parking sensors and was wondering if anyone has fitted a front parking sensors fitted. If so is it a volvo original or one from Halford and such like. I find it useful to park in the garage and parallel park. Costwise, the price quoted by volvo seems steep compared to the others and I am not sure if i should bother. Thanks |

Hello,
I did get a set of front sensors fitted by my volvo dealer. Well, it depends how confident you are and where you mostly intend to park your car. As for me, my work place has a multistorey car park with tightish space. I reckon it was worth investing the money in the sensor rather than get the paint job redone at a later date. Like most things, the sensors does give you that bit of reassurance. Steve |

Front Parking Sensors - Cost
No keen on paying £500+ for dealer fitted front sensors. Does anyone know if aftermarket sensors can 'connect' to the control box for the existing rear parking sensors? This would seem a logical, and cost effective, solution. Thanks, M.

Parking Sensors
No progress. I was hoping that a member of these forums (perhaps a current volvo mechanic) can tell me if the 'control unit' for the existing rear parking sensors can be supplemented with additional front sensors, i.e. when volvo build these things the 'control unit' works both front and rear yet they only 'plug in' the rears, OR when volvo 'dealer fit' new front sensors it's a whole new control box. If it's a shared control box then I'd buy a couple of aftermarket sensors just for the front centre (not bothered about the corners) and plug them into the 'shared control until'. If it's a whole new unit then I may as well by a generic solution off of the web and get a local Auto Electrician to fit them.

I don't know the answer re the control unit, but have you tried asking a Volvo dealer exactly what does the front sensor kit include? This may be a simple way of confirming what you need to know. If they say whay are you asking, you can say that you want to know precisely what you get for your money!
