Im not 100% but i'm pretty sure the only mod was to fit a 16G compressor wheel and maybe bore out the compressor housing for it to fit. Can't remember anyone mentioning that the hotside was changed at all.

On my mates phase 2 s40 t4 he had a 14/16t hybrid that we fitted onto his car and we put the car on the same rollers as the stock 14t turbo and he made the same power at the same boost.so now we fitted an 18t off the v70r and what a difference and it will be on the rollers soon .but I will say this it goes lick the clappers now .

Yea that doest surprise me, bit pointless if the exhaust is still restricted, 18t and 19t much better. Smithy make sure you let us know what he gets on the rollers please.

The only reason to fit a hybrid is so its a straight bolt on as some people seem don't want to do the very basic mods needed to fit a decent turbo. The hybrid does support slightly more power as seen from the graph, but imo its not worth it. Once you have an adapted manifold its problem solved anyway. You just have to spend a few a quid getting the DP modded and slightly fettling one of the lines to the turbo. It would still work out cheaper anyway than buying a hybrid. I dont know why more people don't have 16, 18, 19T, K24 etc. Its a pretty simple job. Running a bigger turbo at low boost will also see lower IAT's whilst still running more power and torque than a stock 14T could ever get to. Rod bending may be an issue if boosting high but, if you have a phase 2, mapping is not really a problem now either. If you are happy with 240bhp and 300lbft stick with a 14T, if not do the neccesary mods to fit a good sized turbo imo.

Well grant from what I've seen on hybrids your looking at between 600-1000+ for a new one, with that kinda money you could defo buy a 5cyl mani habit modified buy a 19t etc and injectors and get a dp fabricated, and still be left 300+ which could get remap or piggyback. Or even start fully forging the engine etc....
