This quality goes right back to at least the early 1970's when the Volvo battery was made by TUDOR , 15 years on a 144S we had ,and still going strong when it was sold .

- Had to replace the original battery on my '03 XC90 when I got it last year, but the car had been stood 13 months with it flat...

- Have the original battery in my '02 C70 T5.

- My previous '00 C70 still had the original battery when I sold it in 2013.

My previous V70 (P2, Petrol) was doing fine on its original when I sold it at 11 1/2 years.

Wonder if having it situated within the car makes them last longer as opposed to being exposed to the elements like at the front of the 850?

Seems logical, makes sense with it being encased in bodywork. Mine's still got the original one on.

The genuine Volvo batteries do seem to last and last, by all accounts.

02 V70 166k - still with original battery. Thought it was on it's way out earlier this year but it was the alarm battery causing it to drain, we'll see what this winter brings!

On mine I had it changed literally a couple of weeks ago, after I noticed it started 'coughing' on cold start. Still had the original battery from new in 2005. Since then, all has been fine with a brand new battery.
