Battery Change XC90 2007 A few questions
Hi All,
Any battery experts out there? I'm thinking of changing the battery this weekend as current battery doesn't seem to be holding charge. Car has done 160K, battery is a Volvo battery so could be the 1st/original battery (I'm 3rd owner of car). Two main questions. 1. Will I need to reset any of the vehicle's computers/cpu etc after change, and if so, how? 2. current battery has a drain tube, & a "top up" type....now I'm guessing that a "Sealed" battery is fine & no need for the drain tube? Thanks in advance |

I would remove any CDs before disconnection other than that, as long as you're working reasonably quick, no.
The drain tube is to vent explosive gas generated through charging so needs to be there and connected regardless of whether or not it's a maintenance free battery.

Thanks for the quick reply, good point about the CDs. I guess all batteries must have a vent valve, just never noticed before as batteries have been under the bonnet.
I noticed the tube was a bit kinked anyway! better straighten as don't want to gas the kids! |

I did this last weekend mate. Bought a Bosch battery from Eurocarparts costing around the £80 mark with a 30% discount code. If you type in your reg on their website a list of compatible battery's are then listed.
Regarding the swap, just make sure you have not started the car or turned on any electrics for at least 5 minutes before disconnecting the battery terminals. |

It's a shame you're not closer as I have a brand new genuine Volvo D5 battery available. 800CCA 90Ah.

You can then go back to there website and if you then use there online chat service they will then actually better the price on there official website than what they are selling them for on ebay. Hope that makes sense mate. |

Ah-ha! Good idea! I guess with fe-ebay & paypal-l fees totalling about 13-15% there is room for some haggling. thanks |
