Default Battery drain.

Thank you to all the above contributers.
My 02 S60 [had it for 18 months] sits for 2 weeks at a time as I work off shore. Came back last week, battery completely flat. the battery is 18 months old but asked the garage to check it. Got another under guarantee. Two days later completely flat, not the battery! so i will be trying all the above and failing that will disconnect the battery when away. I think this will be good practice anyway.

Default Battery drain.

Hi, spent the day going through the electrics. The car has a [roughly] 0.1 amp drain. Removed alternator wires 2, no difference. Removed and replaced all the fuses, one at a time, the only one to make a difference is 25, central electromic module. This fuse reduces the drain, probably to 0.25 amp, can't be more acurate without a digital ammetre.
Can anybody help?

Hi again, using a digital ammeter, I removed the boot lights to exclude things like that, but was advised to 'push a screwdriver shaft through the boot lock and the drivers door lock' to convince the electrics that the boot and doors are closed. this will allow the computer to go completely to sleep.
In this condition I am [was] getting a 1.9 amp drain. started pulling fuses at the siren and the drain reduced to 0.03 amps after a short time. Pulled other fuses for climate control etc but no difference, so the drain is in the siren.
This fuse is now removed permanently.
Thanks to all for guiding me to this point.
Ben.
ps. I said I would report back. Last year I blanked the EGR valve by cutting a piece of [used a beer can at first but this burnt through in 6 months] steel sheet and bolting between the venturi and EGR. This has worked great and it passes the MOT emmissions.

Battery isolator might not be a great idea on these cars as connecting and reconnecting battery can cause problems with the electronic systems, like srs light coming on, there are even cases where the airbags have deployed on reconnecting.

Wow, didn't know that! I've had to unhook the battery loads of times to reset my passenger door. Kinda glad that the battery is at the back now...
