Default Gearbox Question

Hi all,

I have a 2001 V70 2.4 NA with the auto gearbox. I am confused as to which box it is because the HPI for the car says it's a 4 speed but having checked the VIN against the VIN decoder, it appears to be a 5 speed. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

VIN: YV1SW61P912

Attached is a pic of the gear selector too

Do you not have a display on the dashboard? Or is it just d.p.n.?

It will be a 5 speed Asin gearbox.

What is the mileage and has the gearbox oil ever been changed?

Thanks everyone. Seems to me it’s a 5 speed then.

Car has done 94.6k miles and on a Y, 2001 reg. No record of the box oil being flushed and replaced but it shifts smoothly. It’s on my list of things to do to have it flushed and replaced at a Volvo specialist.

I would strongly recommend not to get the gearbox flushed, instead get the garage to do a drain and fill.
Then if you have the budget to do so repeat it again after 1000 miles and keep doing this until the oil comes out a nice red colour.

Also use OEM volvo gearbox oil.

According to skandix.de, your
Transmission type is AW55-50/51SN which is a 5 speed transmission.

I have a 2006 D5 with the 5 speed auto box, recently purchased. Dropped the transmission oil today as she plays up a little, and replaced about 4 litres, Wasn't a pretty colour, coming out, but plan to do as BlueRubber suggests and drop it again every 1000 miles. Expernsive in pil but cheap in terms of keeping the auto box sweet i think.

yea you can prolong the box by 2-4 years easily from first signs of slippage.

mine now only slips once in a blue moon
