Is it legal ? HM Revenue might send you a large bill for unpaid duty if they cotton on. The smoke pouring out the back should give a few clues

You could argue that as it's waste oil, it was obviously once fresh oil, and as such had VAT paid on it at the original point of sale, no idea if that would stand up legally or not though, just an opinion.

theres a lot of duty on road fuel, not just vat.
doesnt seem likely to come under the allowance for homebrewed biodiesel from veg oil
and the smoke belching out the back will attract plod pdq
perhaps it doesnt matter so much if the car is an £80 banger, confiscation and premature crushing wont break the bank.
Points, fines, criminal record and a bill for whatever customs feel like wont be funny though.

Its not legal. I've seen it on those traffic police tv shows. They even have a special kit for testing for it.

Not sure if its police or vosa or who it is but some authority is responsible for checking.

I think using veg oil is legal for personal use up to a certain amount.

100% this is not taking the mick..

Anyone who is in the south Wales area are able to come and check..

Home made bio fuel is legal upto 2500 ltrs per year.. They can check the mileage from mot doc to mot doc.

There is almost no noticeable difference in smoke..

Ah didn't realise the turbos were different ..

I was going to break the one I got so this may just speed up the process....

Is fuel with a Waste Motor Oil base classed as a bio-diesel? I thought that bio-fuels used a vegetable or animal oil base?

That I would have to play ignorance to as I simply don't know.. I've found no where from the vosa/dvla that says you cannot run this.. (Happy to find guidance from someone)

If I'm honest I've found more people doing it when I've looked into it.
