What miles are on the car and is it worse when going around a bend?

Mate I just did my front wheel bearings, there was no play in the wheel at all and very hard to diagnose just had to bite the bullet and change them.

Mine`s symptoms were:

Load droning noise from the front that got louder with road speed. Continued if put into neutral. That was it. Had it jacked up and tried to rock them but they were solid.

Changed the front wheel bearings and hey presto driving superbly now. Apparently this is a common fault on the S40
