To an estate; I have but the question is why bother? There is no bolt on conversion that I'm aware of that'll directly bolt onto an estate. The way I did it is by lopping the brackets off a 240 axle, making new brackets and welding them onto the axle. It is a lot of work for no significant gain.

The reason I say that is a pair of drums could cost £300ish whereas an axle/disk upgrade could be the same or cheaper.
any info on what 240 axle is the one to go for? Also why can't you add disks to the standard amazon axle? |

As to why you can't add disks to a standard amazon axle? It isn't really a question of can't, but you can't just pull the halfshafts and caliper assembly off a 140 or 1800E because there are detail differences in the bearings, oil seals etc. I've seen a conversion involving a disk grafted onto the hub of a drum which retains the morse taper half shaft. That however seems rather pointless. I don't see that it'll cost less than a set of drums by the time you've engineered a solution. |

Now got my work out the way so should be able to get some work done on the estate.
Also really nice to meet Derek UK at Battlesbridge today. Great car and thanks for the info! James. |

How has everyone got the rust and scrappy paint cleaned out of the inside of the front panel?

One side wasn't a problem as it all crumbled away so put new steel in but the other side was fine so i used a flexible shaft on my drill with a wire brush on it then splashed plenty of kurust in there

If it's off the car you could consider getting it blasted. Not too much pressure and try not to blast any remaining galvanising off if it has it. Any soda blasters over there near you?

No idea about soda blasters I'll do some digging. The flexi drill bit sounds good but alot of effort. I'm used to attacking things with a wire brush on an angle grinder.

I've got and 1800s engine. Is it right these had D cams in? If so can I put the cam straight into a 2ltr with a B20E head on it?
