Spotted today on TV an advert for Age Concern UK which at the opening features a blue 745 driving down a rural road. Maybe it says something about the age of the Qwners!

I suspect the footage used in the ad is as old as the car itself Bob, from a time when the stereotypical Volvo owner was the "Woopy" - Well Off Older Person and would buy a 745 on their retirement to "see them out".

Charities tend not to spend money on updating adverts, especially if they're serious about raising money for the causes they support. Hence my disgust at Oxfam who are constantly changing their adverts.

I've not seen the ad you mention, i'll have to keep my eyes peeled!

There's a new generation coming in though - people who buy Volvos from old folks who were Woopy's who are forced to sell as they can no longer drive, therefore set a low price for it to go to a good home.

Does that make you (and me because i did similar) Poorer Older People? The acronym for that would no doubt be "Poopy" which doesn't sound quite so nice!
