ABS Activating when it shouldn't
So recently on my 2005 163 bhp D5 just before coming to a halt the ABS activates, brake pedal pulsates. This happens when no risk of skidding is present, plugged Vida in and no abs faults were shown. Deliberately got the car skidding when braking and abs worked fine. I'm thinking abs sensors may need cleaning? Anyone else experienced this ?

Hi
Have you checked your tyre pressures? If one is low could cause an issue.

I'd put money on a cracked ABS ring. I had the exact same issue last year. Felt like I was braking on ice but it was peak summer
Take the wheel(s) off and have a look for any obvious damage to the abs rings, could also give the sensors a clean whilst your at it for good measure. |

That.... Cracked ABS ring on front CV joint in hub (left or right) £4 part from J&R on e-bay. Easy to check for - few vids on YouTube on how to replace.

I’m 99% sure it’ll be your abs rings in one form or another that’s why it isn’t showing a fault.
My old v70 drive shafts were slightly loose in the hub (common issue) and under slight turning and braking the abs ring would move out from the sensor and trigger the abs. Could just as easily be a cracked or rusted up ring (oh er). |
