When the 240 came out here in 1975, (*) the base 244DL was $7731, and a 264GLE was $13055 (*) a (more powerful & reliable) Crown was $4995 (*) the Holden Kingswood range (equivalent of Opel Commodore I guess - but a bit bigger) was from about $4k to $6614 for the top-spec 5L (*) the Ford Falcon range (Granada equivalent I guess but again a bit bigger) was from about $3400 to $6700 for the top 5.8L 2dr They released the 960 with the archaic gutless thirsty PRV for $80850 and it went up to $86000 in 1991 with the whiteblock, when an E34 525i was $88500 ... no wonder there are so few 960's around! |

EV’s
They (government) need to start imposing Road Fund Tax on EV’s they are using the roads, they are contributing to the pot holes, especially because of their weight. They’re impossible to extinguish when they catch fire. Destroying the road surface in the process.
I had a Lexus Hybrid and owned for a year, sold that and a watch, now have a XC70 SE AWD D5 Sport with Polestar. My other car is a Mercedes SL320 1999 Petrol. Not going down the EV rabbit hole. |

I think its all part of the plan though. My opinion is in future, older cars will be taxed to the hilt (more than now), which will basically force the owner's of them to get rid of them or trade them in for something newer/more environmentally friendly. Its unlikely that someone with an old car is going to keep paying through the roof to have it on the road, when there's newer alternatives that'll be a fraction of the cost because they meet emissions standards for these clean air zones. EV's will pay £180 next year. That's still half of what an older diesel pays now, or even more than half for those vehicles paying the £695 per year currently.

^ Well to be fair, diseasal engines are powered by oil ... that's what they burn, they're like a 2-stroke except you just pour the oil in & don't worry about the petrol part.

Stop being so silly. We all know by now that petrol, like electricity are all waste products of unicorns.
