Well I changed it. I feel like someone has put most of my fingers in a vice and tightened it up.: I found that rotating the sensor until I was able to pull it out was the only way I could remove the cable connector. Once it was out of position, it was easy to disconnect.

I didn't remove the windscreen wipers - just pulled up the passenger side scuttle plate (after removing the clips).

Just had VIDA/DICE on the car and the alarm has cleared. So this unit from EBAY http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2522043829...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT does work - at least on my 2003 V70. Bring on the fumes!!!!!

Now the only alarm I have left standing is the alarm module. I'll probably get round to removing that next week to take a peek inside.

Once again - thanks for the advice.

They will work pretty face lift
It's the face lift models that these Cheapo won't work

cleared with vida and no code anymore, but when I looked at communications
the AQS reading is 1000% pulse width, but no DTC, this is on a 2002 d5
can anyone let me know what there working value is in vida,
does the AQS only work when the AC is on
Thanks Dave

When you click "Parameters" for the live reading, click "Description" at the bottom left of the tab

Finally fitted mine today.
I removed the scuttle as I have windscreen wiper pullers so it only added 5 mins onto the job....... or maybe it shortened the job because access was then so easy? I dunno.

Anyway it all works and the code has cleared from Vida so it's another +1 for the cheap Chinese one linked by MWMan (thanks).
My 2002 is obviously pre facelift though so you newer guys may have to look elsewhere for a cheap replacement.

Same 1000% just like the non working one I removed.
Vida says it should be 0-100% so strange there's no fault code.

I tried the test of a rag soaked in screenwash placed near the new sensor and the flap closed so it is working.

Didn't have time unfortunately to look at the Vida reading whilst doing the test.

I have a chinese supplied AQS to fit at the next convenience. Strangely it appears to be a genuine VW/Audi unit that has had the small filter replaced. I was under the impression that the air quality sensors weren't serviceable. I'll probably lubricate the wiper linkage whilst I'm in there, and treat the scuttle panel to some back to black or similar product.

Hi simon thanks for that
I did spray some brake cleaner in the vent and I did not see Vida change
But I could not see the vent as it was all back together so maybe I will take it apart again and do the test that you did,so I can see if it closes, does it close as soon as you put the rag next to it?
Thanks Dave
