My 740GLE Auto - Finally up for sale
Hi All,
Right, advertising my 740GLE Auto estate now as its no longer needed, My 740 that i crashed has now been banger raced, and I have my 740 saloon and Honda for daily duties. My 740 Auto has done 181,000 miles, has an MOT till 17th September and has no problems to report at all. The headlining is perfect and done in like a suede material, its really very nice. ALL the volvo gauges work. Fuel / temp gauges work perfectly - a rareity for one of these! Ive probably done 1,000 miles it in now since I had it. The starting problem I had with the car (it wouldn't hot start) was traced to the silly push button start someone had installed previous to me, but thats been disabled, and the car starts on the key as normal. The car has had a new battery and recon starter motor (to fix the starting problem that was later traced to the push button start!) so battery and starter is good. Ignition module has also been replaced at some point, so starting wise, the car is sorted. It always starts first time, every time. The Autobox changes perfectly and always very smooth, even when cold. Interior wise, its in good condition. The drivers seat is slightly worn, and the drivers side door card, like most no longer has the storage pocket at the bottom, as its cracked and been removed at some point, but the passenger side is fine. The heated seats also work, obviously not as good as they did 20 years ago, but they work, again a novelty on a 740! The sunroof, does open and close, but it has a mind of its own when it comes to closing properly, so i just leave it shut. Never found it to be a problem. All the electric windows and mirrors, work as they should. The radio installed at the moment isn't mine, so will have to come back out again. The previous owners had made a mess of the radio wiring, which has now been fixed. The radio was just installed for testing purposes. The private plate will stay with the car, and I have stacks of previous service history, including a cambelt change at 150,000 miles, so thats good for a while yet too. Some pictures for you: http://www.jnolan.co.uk/volvo/IMG_0001.JPG http://www.jnolan.co.uk/volvo/IMG_0002.JPG http://www.jnolan.co.uk/volvo/IMG_0003.JPG http://www.jnolan.co.uk/volvo/IMG_0004.JPG http://www.jnolan.co.uk/volvo/IMG_0005.JPG If anybody has any questions, or wants more pictures, feel free to drop me an email to james @ jnolan .co.uk (remove spaces!) I will be cashing the tax in on selling the car (has about 5 months remaining). If the buyer requires, this can be left on the car at cost, and speaking of cost, Id like £400 back for the car, as ive spent a lot of time fixing the little niggles that were present when i got it, I assure anyone buying this car, its a very reliable, comfortable cruiser, and if it doesn't sell on here or ebay. I shall keep the car myself. Any questions / comments, please feel free to add. Thanks

Thanks
Added picture of slight damage below passenger side back door. Obviously, this doesn't detract from the way the car drives, and isn't that noticeable. Also want to add that car passed its last MOT with no advisories at all.

trying to work out if it would be easier to sell the car in bits. Im guessing it would, this is now a step I may take, especially if i can sell the number plate seperate

Right, crunch time. It has 1 day left to go on ebay. The car is at £255. Im not willing to have the car sell for around £300 on ebay, then have to pay 50 odd quid final value fees. So if its not gone up any in the next 10 hours, im pulling the car off and will probably sell it in bits. A shame I know, but i reackon its worth more in bits, than it is as a whole car, so im willing to listen to any offers off here as a last ditch attempt if anyone wants to save the car as a whole.

If you do end up ripping the car apart, can I have first dibs on the instrument cluster, please?

I'll be taking that out and putting it straight into my 740 Saloon, as the fuel gauge works properly in this cluster, and is a little dodgy in my saloon!

How about £350? It needs to go now, i need the room, else it will just be shut in the garage untill i can break it in the summer.
