Default Santa Pod - 2007

Following comments on another thread I can confirm that the practicalities (and cost!) of holding a rally at Santa Pod will be investigated by the Club's Directors.

As soon as further information is available it will appear in the 'Driver' and on the forums.

Regards

Chris

Thumbs up

Hi Chris, this is a very positive step, however a track based venue may have more appeal than a quarter mile event at Santa Pod (after a member convinced me with some very good reasons ) as anybody could take their car on the track - a 1/4 mile event would appeal to a limited number of people. At a track day we could have a parade of all the cars around the track - this I feel would really open up the possibilities as the event would no longer be purely a static event. It would also mean that people that would really like to push the envelope with their cars would have the opportuunity to do so - we could also have team events such as rwd vs fwd etc!

Sounds a good idea.

lol, I need to sort my suspension and body roll if I am taking on the fwd ladies around a track.

Only comments about a track event are that you normally need a helmet and track day insurance which can get very expensive. You dont need this at santa pod. Dependent on how th event is handled at santa pod, there may be the change of creating a 'parade ring' for the cars to go round.

Yep, down that strip, then up the old fire up road (new setup probably wouldn't work so well), would work well for this.

From previous VPCUK meets I've been to, there is always more attendees at the drag strip than a Track

Santa Pad and Avon park usually attracted 20-30 cars at each meet. Track days that have been arranged (usually just by the members only attracted 2 people....
Hopefully if you can attract more volvos To either I'd love to come and play with some of the RWD cars....
