Forgive me if I'm wrong but I was always under the impression that demon tweeks just sold an awful lot of genetic untested crap most of the time for kids in slammed Corsas in your local McDonald's...
I highly doubt anything branded 'performance' from them has ever even been tested on one of our cars. It costs a lot of money to develop something for optimum flow and test it out under various conditions. For a company that claim to sell all these parts for numerous different brands of car at a fraction of the price of the specialised performance companies for our cars just screams "it's naff" to me. A decent high flow CAT for any car will usually be around £300-400. Happy to be proven wrong, but I'd place money on it performing worse than the standard Volvo CAT. I'd be looking at JT Tuning or Ferrita personally as many T5 owners have fitted those with good results.

ah right, have you used them before? I have used them quite a bit for other parts and they have actually been pretty good and also when taking my car in as well. yeh im still looking around but arent the JT Tuning or Ferrita 2.5"? or does that not matter with cats, I have no idea ... I thought I needed a specific 3" one.
I dont really car about brand really, just need a 3" performance cat at a good price thats road legal.

Most of T5D5 are using Ferrita systems, they're expensive but very well made and will last. You won't have any issues come MOT time with either. http://kalmar-union.com/parts/volvo-...0c70-exhausts/ Prices are in SEK on JT but they're cheaper than Ferrita, they're not stainless though like the Ferrita systems, will probably still out live the car though before rusting through.... http://www.jt-tuning.se/volvo-turbo-...50-s40-04-1571

I got the CAT back system for my T4 first, then I replaced the downpipe with their one with a second hand Ferrita CAT and the amount of faffing with pipes and welding and different bore sizes was ridiculous, should have just purchased the whole lot and been done with it If you have someone local who'll do it at mates rates though you could just pay them to make adaptors/weld it in.

yeh I was thinking of a full system but still weighing up costs, I can get a 2nd hand nortech exhaust previously on an V50 T5 which sounded great but mega loud but was also a decat so just going to weigh up that system with rough cost of labour on putting that cat in as well as getting one of those valve flap things to quiten it and open up under full throttle.

Just an update on this, car is being put back on the road again so putting it back through the MOT. MOT failed again obviously but on the same split boot and emissions.
Initial thought on the emissions is the lambda sensor so getting a new one to put that on as the car emissions read as if it doesnt exist. If not it will have to be a new cat for sure. A boot has been ordered to remove the split one, so thats will be sorted quickly. All fun and games.

Anyway, do you have VIDA/DICE? Or even torque pro with Android as you can poll the lambda data in realtime. You should see the readings oscillate between roughly 0V and 1V each duty cycle and go constant high (1V) when you hold the revs up. This'll tell you instantly if the lambda has failed. Don't cheap out of the lambda, it's a case of gen Volvo is best for something so crucial to the running of the car. Aftermarket ones have been tried before and they don't last long and you're back pulling your hair out to why it doesn't run properly.

Had to do the MOT again as its in a different garage now which I trust a bit more (Cant wait to move out of cornwal as I dont trust any garages here) But they had to MOT it again just to check everything as a retest is free. But no I dont have vida or dice, probably something I should look at as well, are they easy to use?
