Default V50 2006 diesel estate front knocking sound

Hi folks my v50 had its MOT last week and failed on front drivers side shock, I found a replacement at a local breakers yard and swopped it over, not too many issues although get I'm not a mechanic, whilst it passed the MOT retest no problems I've now got a horrible knocking when I go over humps n bumps, not the normal Volvo hard suspension noises, any ideas would be much appreciated
All the best
Andy

most likely the stabilizer links, those are connected to the strut and if they are not tightened correctly they will make a lot of noise. Even when the link itself is not broken yet. You have to replace the bolt in that case.

I had this happen to my own car as well.

Also a possible culprit - top shock mounts/bearings. Had some odd noises when those were worn, have a check just in case aswell
