Default very slight oil leak

Hi all, took off the top engine cover today and noticed a little bit of engine oil on top if the cylinder head, it was only a small amount and was around the middle 2 plugs (not in the plug well), near the filler cap and some sort of hose? Any ideas?

Could it be the oil filler, they do fail there BUT its only a neoprene washer.

If you post up a photo of the exact location and amount of oil we could give our guesses.

The hose you are talking about is a PCV hose going under the valve cover. Very small amounts of oil should be going through it, so a leak would result in some misting only. A bad filler cap gasket could also mist some oil around, as druid mentioned.

Fit a new filler cap gasket, they go hard with heat and time and do not seal properly. Should sort, if not then most likely the PCV hose - next to the filler cap- is leaking slightly. Most likely cause however is a clumsy spanner monkey spilling oil when filling.
