So you have found a working charging point but need to download yet another payment app but no 4g on the phone and dident bother to get the car serviced at volvo so no internet in the car. Mean while your partner is riding shotgun in the caravan parked up with the commercial vans and hgv's and the kids shouting 'are we there yet'

Why on earth would anyone want to put themselves through that?
Why would you stay beyond 2 hours? Nobody would ever need to.

20-80% charge at a 150kw charger would take no more than 20 minutes, I suspect you don’t have an EV…😂

In the UK there is the ball-ache of unhitching in many locations, not so much an issue on the continental who are set up for this (especially on the peage in France)

Range anxiety is a thing those without EV’s obsess about, rarely those with.

Or you download the Apps that pretty much every EV driver downloads and you’ll be fine; if on the rare occasion you don’t have the right App you pay by card.

The original thread refered to towing with an ev where range anxiety i feel would be the number one concern, unless you only travel locally when towing.

Quite, but you added in about people driving slowly in EV’s and linking that to a range anxiety - unless you were specifically referring to those towing which, as the speed limit on motorways is 60mph, you’d expect so isn’t really a point.

I don't have an EV but I have had one on a long term test drive so whilst it's not my daily routine, I am familiar with charging etc. And hence for the foreseeable future, why I will never have one.

So going from 20-80% is a 60% increase in charge, so if you have an EV with say a 150 mile range towing a caravan, you're arrival at the services, unhitching, drive to the charge points, assuming there is no queue, 20 mins charging, if it works and it's a super fast job, go back and hitch up, will get you a further 90 miles at best. I think I'd rather be towing with my old 6 litre Jag, even that would manage 250 miles to a tank and could be refilled in less than 7 minutes at any petrol station.

..........depends on how they use them. If you can charge at home and all of your journeys are shorter than the range of the car, then yes a valid point.

However for most business travellers who go up and down the length of the country, it's a constant issue. Probably 2 out of 3 times when I meet colleagues at a site, where they charged and how close they came to walking has overtaken the weather as to the ice breaking conversation.

Hence why I noted it’s easier abroad. Stopping for a 20 minute break every couple of hours is not a bad thing but unhitching does make that more frustrating.

But it’s the negative side to me doing 22k miles a year and only having to hit a forecourt a dozen times

All the P’s - Perfect planning prevents…etc.

Home charging is a game changer.
