Default S40 radiator

So the story goes like this, on numerous occasions after being on a drive that enables the car to get up to full running temp I have noticed steam coming from the front end of the bonnet ( hood ) so my instant thought has been oh my rad is on its way out, so yesterday I bought a new rad and an alternator as the alternator had gone as well, anyway it turns out that there is nothing wrong with the rad and was told water is getting onto the top of the radiator and evaporating with the heat, just thought it worth a heads up to mention it if you see the same kind of thing happening to you, so if there is no loss of coolant it will be as mentioned above more than likely, wonder if any of you guys have the same thing with the S40 ?
