Install OEM Child Power Locks?
Hi all,
I have a 2013 XC90, which does not have the power child lock security option. We can operate the rear door child locks manually. Is it possible to install the power child lock feature later? Thanks |

Interestingly....
I was fiddling about with Dice the other day, and although my car does not have the button for power child locks, they ARE fitted and DO work! I can operate them both via activations in Vida, so I'm wondering, if it's just a case of dropping the switch into a vacant position in front of the gear selector? I'm sure I've read elsewhere that the switches in that bank can go into any position as it's all on the CAN-BUS, sure it was Shadeyman or Alex that had fitted either driving lights or LED's and popped an original switch in and it worked straight away? IF Vida will perform the activations (i.e. all child locks are actually powered, just on some models theres a switch) then the total price looks to be about £20-30 for the physical switch in the dash, and from experience probably about the same again for the software.
Not too bad.

Looking at the panel the switches sit in, it seems to be one part number for however many switches, so does the hole need to be cut, as it doesn't look like there are knockout panels?

Hi,
I think that when you have above a certain number of switches, Volvo fitted a complete switch panel with blanks in the unused part. I have 5 switches including the power child locks, with two blanks over to the far nearside. I don't think it would be very easy to cut a new aperture. Hope this helps. |

There are at least 2 versions of the panel. One with 7 holes and one with 4. There are 7 switch sockets behind. Unused holes are filled with dummy switches (8691511). It's very easy to remove the panel - just grab the lower edge and pull.
