the c202 was delievered with a diesel , but ist a little bit less hp than in a Landrover... i think your driving line in the bv202 will not stand the power, and to get spares for a b20 or hole engines ist still easier then to swap a diesel in.....

in my view the B18 and B20 engines just have to be one of the best engines ever built there just so strong and easy to work on why swap a good engine for a money pit fuel aint bad as always gets mentioned and i never even see the point for any LPG conversions the engines in standard form work flawlessly if maintained & serviced to a high level yelding you a strong engine with good MPG figures then again im just biased as im very impressed with the overall build of these cars for there time !

regards
robert

How about the Volvo D5 engine and I believe it should mount onto the M90 whiteblock gearbox (out of the manual 960).

Rebuilding a B20 will cost a few pennies though but probably the easiest route. I imagine you should get all the standard B20 parts from a Volvo parts dealer, also there is Brookhouse Volvo and KG Trimning in Sweden for performance B20 parts.

The cheap engine option for replacing a B20 is to upright one of the B19/23 or B200/230 family engines as it will bolt upto the existing gearbox.

If determined to go with a oil burner the likely engines choices would be the pug 2.5, transit DI engine or the land rover tdi as already mentioned is still a simple engine. All those engines are heavy and you will need a strong gearbox etc to couple them up with.

I semi fancy fitted a Mitsubishi canter engine into a 240 to use as a pulling car but doubt it will ever happen as those engine are sought after and fetch good money.

cheaper then b20 spares ??? i don´t think you ´ll find anything, and every Thing fits!!! Volvo used the engine for that vehicle because the engine is so good and starts everytime ,eaven with -35Celsius.....never Change a winnig Team....

240 with BMW tds engine great Team as well , fits to zf automatic gearbox easily.

The B20 will also run on very poor quality petrol, lets of reasons why Volvo used the engine.

They just run-on and run-on don't they Unfortunately the OP hasn't signed in for six years, so unless someone knows them we may never find out about the swap.

which part of the drive line do you mean? are you referring to the arctic linkage of the diffs? i thought the diffs were pretty bullit-proof
