Default b20 rear brakes

hello,

Anyone know where I can find a diagram of the rear brakes for a late b20
amazon? The green books/haynes(!) weirdly don't seem to cater for them. I am having trouble with mine and could do with a good schematic.
I was checking them out, couldn't get the drum off over the pads..eventually did, backed the adjuster way back in, had a hell of a job getting the drum back on over the pads which is very odd..couldn't seem to get the pads to go back in a decent amount. Other side was fine. Maybe the piston is stuck out a bit but it looked fine. I am not a fan of brakes at the moment.
Thanks for any help.
Dave

Hand brake cable slackened off first? Talk of pads an piston gets me worried here. Assume you mean shoes and brake cylinder pistons. As far as I'm aware there were no late changes to the rear brakes of the B20 models.

Hi Derek,
Yes, sorry..I did mean shoes, and brake cylinder piston.
I thought there was no change, but none of the diagrams in the books mentioned above have my layout, and the piston is a different part for the
b20 brakes apparently. I had slackened off the handbrake cable, but I think I am there now..combination of factors causing me a headache. Still not a fan of brakes though

thanks again,
Dave

Glad you're sorted. Had a look at the B20 parts book and the brakes are indeed different. I suspect this may be due to the dual circuit system. It looks as if the basic adjustment is via the square adjuster at the bottom and the handbrake is adjusted by a star wheel which is, I assume, accessed by a slot in the back plate. I assume this also fine tunes the position of the shoes in relation to the drum and means less travel for the brake cylinder pistons. This will also take some free play out of the pedal which is good. Handbrake cable then adjusted to give the usual 3-4 clicks I guess. I've only worked on the earlier type so this is new to me. Should be someone here who knows them better. In the mean time I'll send you a pic of the page in the parts book. Sent to D*** at nospin.
