Possible engine swaps 440
Hey Guys and Gals,
I got a 440 from '95 with the 1.8 and the automatic transmission. But want to swap engine and tranny to something else. I dont have an issue with the 1.8 its a work horse but the transmission is a different story. Im thinking about possibly swapping it to a B230FT or FK with manual transmission and making it RWD. Whats you guys opinion on this? And possible tips or tricks always welcome. Mike |

This chap is building a 400 series T5 AWD by transplanting guts from a 850.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xB3NFJur9vs ....but it's not really something that could be described as an "engine swap" ! The 400 series had Renault engine/transmission. A few people in the day dropped in the 2 litre engine from the Renault 21 Turbo.

Would any of the inline fours that were available in the 440/460 work with a CVT-equipped 440, or were the manual or conventional auto ones different in some way that would make retrofits difficult?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |
