CD player not working
The CD player on my 06 XC90 does not work VIDA tells me that : ICM-6C75 Media player module 2(MP2) not valid faulty signal & ICM-6C79 Infotainment Control Module (ICM) not valid Faulty signal. My limited analysis shows that there is possibly a problem with the serial number of the player and that held by the central computer. How do I get them talking again?

If the serial numbers do not match, then the Volvo anti-theft security software has disabled them
You can go to Volvo and ask for the audio system anti-theft security feature to be disabled, and then the car no longer cares what serial numbers are fitted.

Is it possible to use VIDA to disable the anti theft security? The radio works fine it’s just the CD player that refuses to stay on for more than about 2 seconds!
I am not sure that I could afford a trip to a Volvo dealer - we don’t have one in Hereford anymore, so it would involve a journey somewhere. Regards Dunc56 |

The dealer also uses VIDA, and it is through the dealer's use of VIDA that the anti-theft gets disabled. But to disable the anti-theft, you have to order and pay for the configuration change, and that requires an authorized dealer logon and connection to Volvo backend systems. And you cannot do that at home. Which is why you need to visit the dealer. But by all means use VIDA and diagnose your system before you go to a dealer. You can read and activate many functions in VIDA and narrow down the issue to help you determine what is wrong. Maybe you have all the correct serial numbers etc, and you just have a CD fault....
