Default Wheel refurbishment

Hi there. My Volvo xc 60 was involved in a Collision. The 3 rd part accepting liability.
Took it to Volvo main dealer for repair . The insurance were willing to do a full refurbishment on my wheels which were costing £125 per wheel. All 4 wheels.
Volvo have sent them off to a 3rd party. On return my car went straight to the service centre for its annual service were it was reported a damaged inner alloy rim on the safety check video.
I contacted the body shop and they said they carried out only outer rim refurb. Even tho they said each wheel would be ultra sound checked and refurbed fully diamond cut.
My question is what should I expect for my for the £125 plus vat per wheel. Would £125 per wheel only repair the cosmetic outer rim or would it warrant a full scan wheel sand dip and refurb. The body shop I have said I should be happy with only a cosmetic repair as the insrance were paying. but stuttered when I mentioned the safety video.i have still not collected my car. They have yet to get back to me. Any information would be really welcome as I know little about such costs. Thanks in advance

From my experience over the years £125 is a lot . Places in and around Norwich charge £60 inc for a refurb but that doesn't include any serious damage that requires further work. If the wheels were spun to do the diamond cut, I can't see how any professional worth his salt would a.)not see it, b.)see it and ignore it! Someone blowing smoke up your backside!

I don't know about the price but I'm inclined to think £125 per wheel is on the top end, but regardless of the price I'd think that anywhere worth their money would not carry on with refinishing a wheel which was damaged badly enough to be picked up on the servicing video. I have little faith in bodyshops and insurance repairers after my wife's car was damaged in an accident, when we went to pick it up the large scuff across the face of the OSF wheel was not repaired and the steering was massively out, the bodyshop said it had been checked and was OK.

The cost of getting the wheels done is irrelevant.

If the damage to the wheel occurred because of the accident, then the wheel should be repaired or replaced by the insurance company.

I would go back to them and tell them to send it back for repair.

Last year I had all 4 wheels acid dipped, curb damage repaired and powder coated, cost was £78.00 per wheel.

If there was any buckling on the rim they would send away to an engineering shop to fix at a further cost of £50.00 per wheel.

This £125.00 per wheel sounds like a 'fix and repaint' worst case figure.

The cost of the refurb is the going rate I’m afraid for “Diamond Cut” due to the finish.
This is for just the outer rim surface refurb.
I have just had two done at £120 each + VAT
“Normal “ Alloys can be done for £60-70 each
