I miss a 1976 850cc brown mini called 'Victor' and my first car an Austin Allegro estate bought for £300 with fsh and not a hint of rust - drove it all over the UK and some of Europe and it never let me down.
I also miss the Skoda 120 I bought new in 1987 and sold to a Chezck chap in Reading in 1994. He drove it back to his cousin near Prague in 1995 and its still going strong! |

I really miss my 1982ish X reg red mk1 fiesta. It belonged to a friend of mine and I got by swapping a set of alloys from a scrap car for it. It had been broken into and needed a new quarterlight and steering column cowling. 30k from new and in great condition. No rust, gleaming paintwork, immaculate interior and 100% original. Pleasure to drive, economical and had a lovely rasping exhaust note. I "had" to sell it as my then girlfriend hated the sight of it. I sold it to a mate who then sold it on a year later and I never saw it again.
I really miss that festa!!!

Warned you that you would miss your 240 after you sold it, been there, done it, worn the t-shirt, on numerous occassions !!!
You will just have to get another one, I have regreted selling all my 240's, except my automatic, just could'nt take to no clutch, it was a lovely car though. I think that once you have a 240, it 'gets in to your blood' and you will always want another one ! Good Luck, kev240 |

You owned the Torslanda for quite a few years didn't you? No wonder you miss it! It's hard to own a car for soo long and not miss it, especially when it plays the main role of that all important 'hobby' we all get sucked into.
I miss my old Mini! I never sold it, in fact, I had to take it off the road (only 14 months ago!) as the bodywork was falling into holes, the electrics were extremely trouble-sum and on-going issues with the engine which was down to lack of servicing. I didn't scrap it, however the rusty shell and cut-off roof are sitting in a relatives garage along with 95% of the parts I removed but couldn't sell on. It was my first car and I've vowed not to let it go; I doubt funds will allow me to restore the current shell so I'll probably end up cutting my loses and waiting years until I have the storage and money to buy another shell. Why I miss it so much? Must have covered at least 40k miles in the two years I owned it and it took me all over Ireland covering every Mini show and run I could attend, I even covered one trip to Oxford (England) for the weekend in the pouring rain with no wipers, loaded up with soo much junk I could hardly push 60mph on the motorway at times! She over heated in Dublin once, and one winter I needed to push start her everyday for a month due to an unknown problem. It was my pride and joy and even though it gave me little on-going problems I enjoyed every puddle I splashed, every ford I ran through and every muddy ditch I pondered! Come on guys, where's all the pictures of our old loves? |
