Default Amazon heater control

My 1966 122s is churning out heat all the time. When I look at the heater control the cable is not pulling the valve control - it appears to be seized up.
Also, the capillary tube doesn't go anywhere. It appears to be cut off and sealed.
My son has the same year p1800 and his doesn't have a capillary tube.
Can I repair these things and can I use one without a capillary tube?

Capillary tube as it should be. Is it the cable or the valve control that is seized? If cable you don't need us to tell you to dismantle and lub'. If valve control then that's a different matter.

No it's not the cable. The cable moves the lever for a short distance then the heater control lever sticks.

Get into the foot well and try moving it manually with the cable disconnected from the control. If you get full movement from the control lever,up and down then you need to re adjust your heater control cable

also check that the outer sheath of the heater cable is fully clamped and doesn't move when the cobtrols are moved.
