Default Low Beam failure

i guys, XC90 owner for just over a month. 2006 D5 Executive model. Just had low beam failure message come up- passenger side. Changed bulb and still no dipped beam. Side light and indicator in the light housing work, just dipped beam not working.

Swapped over the headlights and the driver's side works when plugged into the passenger side, which is the one that dipped beam doesn't work. Passenger side dipped beam still does not work when plugged into driver side. Swapped fuses under the bonnet for left and right side dipped beam- both fuses work. Seems the problem therefore lies somewhere within the headlight unit. Had a torch inside the headlight unit and cannot see any burnt/melted wiring or components. All wiring appears intact and connected. Sprayed wd40 on the connector blocks, but still no luck.

Any guidance on what to look for within the headlight unit?

When you "changed the bulb", what did you use?

Was it a known good lamp (bulb)

You could try using the one out of the drivers side unit (which you know works) in the passenger side unit.

Cheers

Dave

Tried swapping the bulbs with the known one that works and still no luck.

Had used Osram bulbs as well.

Are there any specific weaknesses that go first?

You dont say what lamps you have, but guessing all Exec's have Xenon, then maybe the igniter/ballast .. but I would do some research before you toast yourself with the high currents stored in the units.

Hope it helps
