2004 XC90 T6 Cam Belt.
Good evening all,
Looking for a bit of advice, I have a 2004 XC90 T6 @106000 miles and will be booking it into a local indipendent Swedish car garage for an oil leak and suspension knock. I was tempted to have the cam belt and associated parts changed, The cam belt was last changed at 60,000 miles. Is it worth changing the belt, water pump and tensioners again after only 65,000 miles. I understand the service interval states 105000 for cam belt change. Any advice would be gratefully received. |

shakester, do you know the tensioners and idlers where done, on both the Cam and Aux belt ?
What about the alternator pulley ? I know the belt was changed on mine, but I don't know what else, so for peace of mind, I'm doing the lot. I think its worth it, just in case. Last edited by colinbos; Feb 9th, 2018 at 21:40. |

Thanks for the replies. Cars gone into Swedish car clinic today for other problems, prop shaft noise, suspension knock, sticking thermostat, and gear box fluid change.
From the receipts that came with car water pump, thermostat and tensioners were replaced at 60,000 so decided to leave it alone. Love the t6 and not had any issues that seem to plague most of them. Thanks again for the replies. |

I too love my t6 - although I did get mine from a chap who had given up on it as well kept and as good looking as it was the gearbox had failed - been researching for quite some time before this but I got in touch with a gearbox specialist down south that dealt with American cars and agreed if we got all the parts from triple edge in the states he would do the works i now have a heavy duty version with a 3 year warranty both parts and labour cost a little more than a standard gearbox refurb but I hope I have piece of mind .
Next job I want to replace all the front suspension components as feel its not performing as it should |

Got the car back from Swedish car clinic, Gear box fluid change and new filter now runs better than before. Suspension knock and prop shaft noise gone, turned out to be the exhaust knocking and rubbing. I had changed the rear exhaust mount as the original mount on the exhaust had rusted off and the new after market mount had pulled it out of alignment !!.
Wilssp2009, when i purchased mine the gearbox had been reconditioned with pats from US, work was carried out by a place in Kent. Its still going strong and fingers crossed it will keep going. |

Not sure if ill replace it if it's a complete gearbox job. Just spent the weekend replacing third row seat belt, two new tyres front disks and pads. Might be for sale soon spares or repair depending what the diagnosis is |
