Just to update

Got the front mounting bushings in to the rear trailing arms finally, got hold of some decent threaded bar and some long nuts (connectors) patients and perseverance got it done!

Get the axel ones in tomorrow and put the bugger back together

Hmm. I did this job on my '89 240 est last yr. Bushes in freezer, heat trailing arm, tap in bush, QUICKLY and with confidence, occasionaly whacking eyes back as they distort. It helped that my mate's barn had his freezer in, near the vice.

Which bush are you referring to? The smaller bush at the front end of the trailing arm doesn't have eyes, the large bush does but they are on the axle casing not the trailing arm.
I'm confused.

Yes, sorry, the axle eyes, rear trailing arm bush. You do it before painting, so it's all cleaned up first.
