Default Electronic Parking Brake reset

Does anyone know how to reset the electronic parking brake on an S90 without having to plug it into VIDA at a dealership following brake pad replacement? I have been quoted over £400 to replace front and rear pads. I normally replace brake parts myself but need instructions to reset the EPB. Thanks in advance for any help.

I doubt that you can reset the electronic parking brake without VIDA.

£400 to replace just pads does seem excessive - or does the £400 include discs also?

I might be wrong but I read a method on here a while back regarding this very problem (although maybe not an S90). Something to do with disconnecting the battery and winding back the adjuster. It was with pictures I think. Parking brakes have been around for a while so I think the basic principles will apply to your S90. Try and search or look in technical articles. Cheers. Philip.

Volvo quote £200 to change front pads and £165 to change the rear pads in their service price list, and £140 to change wiper blades. £140? Probably plus VAT.

140 for wiper blades? Really? How much is the part only?

Probably about £45 from Volvo plus fitting labour charge.

If it is similar or the same as the v/xc70 then you should be able to do it with a couple of wires with female spade connectors at one end of each. You can use a spare car battery or even a small 9v battery. I even carry a couple of wires and small battery in the car now so that I can still move the car if it won't re-start for any reason.

If you are wary of that method then the example thread points to a video showing how to do it manually ( the official volvo way), on an xc70, when you don't have access to VIDA.
Several recent threads in the 07-16 v/xc70 section. E.g.

You need the VIDA or one of the following methods BEFORE changing the pads, it resets itself next time you apply the EPB.
