XC90 and Caravans

Hi,
Just about to purchase a used touring caravan for my new XC90 to pull. It’s a elddis crusader superstorm 6 berth. This is my first caravan but have had 20 years of driving with large twin wheel trailers. Does anyone on here regularly tow with their XC90? Any issues?

Yes, ironically been away since Weds with our 2000kg MTPLM twin axle Buccaneer. Do you have the factory tow-bar if so it is a wonderful piece of kit - easy to use, quiet and the trailer bulb test feature is a neat trick. The towbar on this car is quieter and more user friendly than the factory swing towbar on my previous Touareg but I do miss the v6 grunt of my previous car just a little but only when towing. The XC90 is fine but with such a heavy trailer I do find i read the road more ahead and get the power down early. No problems with stability or caravan sitting level once air suspension is up to normal ride height.

I went for the factory fit swing out towbar fortunately. Is there any sites you recommend in east anglia to start off with?

Morning, just noticed you are from over the border in Suffolk! We like quieter (but easy to get to) sites ideally near food and water (and not necessarily to drink as i am tee-total)
2 favourites - Manor Farm, East Runton near Cromer (where we are currently)- sea view, Cromer walkable and then access via train/bus most places if that is your thing. Quite a rustic site but a brand new heated shower/loo block where you are left to do as you wish. Plenty to do in North Norfolk but this is a good base.
Street Hill Farm, Neatishead near Wroxham is lovely too - level, private all electric pitches with again great showers/loo. White Horse brew-pub/restaurant an easy walk into the village and a couple of typical Broadland staithes to also walk to along a beautiful quiet lane.
Caravan and MHome sites Incleborough and Seacroft up here too and both very good usual standard - Seacroft nearer Cromer.
Manor Farm and Street Hill Farm do not mind hat time you arrive or leave and as a working guy who has to scurry away after work on Fridays its good to be able to arrive 8pm if I am running late and you dont have to be off by midday Sunday so can have a leisurely day and leave around 4pm to get most out of the w/e.

Bought my XC90 to pull the caravan. It's a 1500Kg Bailey (and the Mrs fully loads it), along with,effectively, 4 adults.
The car pulls it a treat.Steady 60mph. Returned 29mpg last time out.

We have the XC60 and have just finished touring Scotland for a month and done 1300 miles towing with a 1300kg caravan and was very impressed, better then the old XC60 with Polestar. Shame the Inscription Pro seats are not that comfortable over that distance. We took the caravan back up to where we keep it the other day and unladen I had to keep remembering it was behind as could hardly tell it was on the back.
