That's exactly why i was asking about which location you had in mind Jon.

I know from experience that with the Rover meet i (try to) attend, because of the distance it isn't always possible for everyone. Then you get people on holidays, other shows clashing date-wise and a whole host of things that conspire to make life difficult.

Again the distance thing comes into play because if it's normally a 50 minute drive let's say and for some reason there is bad traffic on one road or another, that alone can wipe it out because potential attendees will not want to spend 3 hours sitting in traffic.

With a shorter distance to any potential meets you increase the possibility of alternative routes and decrease the effect of delays even on the main route.

Maybe a way forward would be a separate thread with a poll on it asking if members within say 50 miles (or 40 miles) of somewhere like Kings Lynn would be interested in attending a bi-monthly East Anglia Volvo meet. If so, what suggestions for possible venues can interested parties make, bearing in mind it would preferably be an all-weather venue with a large car park and refreshments of some kind available.

I can't take the credit for the separate thread idea, just for expanding on it with a suggested location which is probably one of the most central east Anglian locations

None of my business so I will just poke my hap'eth in.

Kings Lynn is on a good long distance road route which is good. But also it is surely close to The Wash and The British Ocean (North Sea). So attendees can converge on the place from approximately 180 degrees.

Somewhere that people can converge on from 360 degrees has "twice" the catchment area?

Say, somewhere between Ely and Thetford? With free tea and coffee, and a welcoming dog in the front passenger seat....

I think 180 degrees is perhaps a little pessimistic Stephen :

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/...98!4d0.4022963

One way of looking at it says nearly 360 degrees except some of those would have to go round the long way unless they had an Amphicar but 270 degrees is probably more realistic. Granted that not may would come from the north-east quadrant (the North Sea) we're probably fairly well covered.

Just saying of course..............

The car park isn't big enough! Have enough trouble parking my own cars!

OK. So you got a protractor for Christmas. But. "180 degrees approximately" is not a lot different from 270 degrees.

Very seriously I do not want to derail the idea. You have set out very clearly the issues around making it work. I hope it works. Good luck.

I like a sophisticated tea room with fine china and cucumber sandwiches or maybe scones, strawberrys/jam and clotted cream .... but seriously this again just highlights the problem of distance to attract a wide spread of people. It's just impossible.

Just had a search on the AA Routeplanner. Someone mentioned Orford Ness -

My Lincolnshire Wolds base to Orford Ness - 142.7 miles
My Sussex coast base to Orford Ness - 160 miles

I suspected it was halfway between the two. Another mentioned Kings Lynn, that's 61.1 miles from my Lincolnshire base...now what did I say some time ago, for which I was chastised ?

Have to confess, i'd not heard of Orford Ness, just did a search on Gaggle Mops and found it's about 62 miles from me or about an hour and a half driving.

Kings Lynn was only mentioned as a potential location Jon, nothing set in stone about it and to be honest, wasn't aware of your Lincs base location so took a random guess of Spalding (it's in Lincs ) and knowing it's about 30 miles from KL used that as somewhere to base my suggestion of Kings Lynn on.

Looking at the map i see the Lincolnshire Wolds are much further, almost into the border area with Yorkshire.
