Any other 960 manual owners on here???
Greetings all - not been on here much recently but have just bought myself a new toy/project (project is the word!)...
A 960 manual estate. I knew these were rare so hadn't bothered looking for them and picked up a nice late 940 CD estate, but this one came up for sale and I thought why not so took a punt. This turned into a 13 hr operation when my trusty 940 snapped it's alternator belt on the M25 - it's almost like it knew!!! She drives like she has 4 square wheels, all fluids desperatly needed changing and all bushes/mounts need swapping. On top of that the paint is a mess and the interior has seen better days... but apart from that he's fine. (And just one more thing - the boot doesnt open). If i am reading this correctly: http://www.howrareismycar.co.uk/cars/volvo-960.aspx And the manual was only an option on the 2.5 24V (I seem to remember reading somewhere they build a few 3.0 manuals but they were special order/runout sepcials - happy to be corrected) then there really aren't that many left. So I was wondering, how many of them are on here? And what body/colour are they? Mine is a 2.5 24V CD estate in dark red with cream cloth interior. Any others on here? PP |

I was originally going to break it and t6 swap my 940 - then reaslied how few are left (due to people doing exactly that) so i decided to keep him in one piece.
And even in its poor state you can feel the difference between these and 940s, looking forward to returning him to his former glory! Still torn between NA revvy screamer or boosty brick... |

I have broken a silver 3ltr manual estate and a blue 3ltr manual estate. Both were very rough.
My daily is a 3ltr Auto, I'm tempted to convert my spare one to manual I have already started building a Turbo exhaust manifold for it and have a T6 intake manifold and injectors ready for it. Not sure how the Autobox is going to stand upto that |

I struggled to find any definitive info on what the m90 was available on so anything is useful. And interested to know about your t6 bits? Any chance you could pm me a few pics? Curious how you are going about this as the inlet and exhaust manifolds are i think the biggest hurdles to a t6 swap. Are you using a 1st gen or 2nd gen (think they are RN and RNC codes if i have my jargon correct... that'll be a 1st!) 1st gen seems easier, but 2nd gen have twin vvt and a lighter rotating assembly. I'm not after a drag racing gazillion bhp monster, just a decent daily driver that can suprise a few people when he draws his loafer strings and goes for it... so a 2nd gen with an after market ecu is tempting to make use of the vvt. |

They were both V90's. 3ltr manuals that I have seen have all been very late 960's or V90's
I'm going to take a risk and add the turbo to the 960 engine but keeping boost pressure low. I will put some photos up when I am a bit further along with things |

boost
The 2.5 engine has a lower compression ratio than the 3 litre so might be better with small boost. Definitely stick 99 octane in it if boosting the 3 litre.
