It would probably weigh in for £300 as scrap once the cat's sold etc so nothing to loose.

Get stuck in

122k? Just about run in then

Loads of potential with the 2.3 turbo
Easy to work on
Easy to make into a sleeper
13c whistles at high boost never ceased to make me smile.

£300 - bargain, and if it all goes wrong, break for parts and buy another one

Cheers

If you can fix the hot start problem, which you almost certainly can with the FAQ and help from the forum, and put another twelve months MOT on it next year you could easily double your money, probably more.

You've already had the obvious advice and i can't add anything to that except confirm it.

However, i would say check the air filter and fuel filter, if in doubt, renew both. Also check the fuel pressure regulator and the hose that goes from it to the inlet manifold. Sounds like a vapour lock in the fuel line due to lack of pressure causing the hot start niggle.

Shouldn't be hard to find and fix the fault, whatever it may be and you should have an excellent car for many years to come.

Bomb proof engines, generally as long as the oil has been changed occasionally, ideally regularly.

Bosch injection system sensors, FPR, fuel pump and Turbo etc can suffer a bit at higher mileage but fairly rare. But all fixable fairly cheaply, turbo recon maybe needed soon, budget £350 if you can swap it out yourself.

All work is fairly straight forward, diagnosis can be tricky, but plenty on here can help.
