Vehicle was sourced from Japan, immediately obvious with the front extra wing mirror and rear numberplate holder and japanese writing
2007 model year, was the cutover year prefacelift to facelift
3.2L petrol engine
Cloudy headlamps, need polishing
Towbar is a local NZ fit, obvious
Some marks and scratches
Base level with not many extras
Looks like non Volvo screen fitted for nav system

Drive it and focus on suspension that it feels normal. No creaks or groans.

Put gearbox through its paces.

Check for any DTCs in vehicle (on the dash, no tools needed to access the DTC menu)

Has Japanese language loaded, can only change with dealer visit and purchase of new language software

Make sure it is clean and tidy.
Make sure all services have been done.

My MY2009 XC90 with 125,000km has a nearly new looking engine bay when the dust is cleaned off.

Thanks SwissXC90, Advice much appreciated.

Nearly 3 hour drive but should see the car to at least gain some knowledge of what is available and cost.
Appears well under comparable price so may have major issues.

We have just purchased V70 and now have 5 cars
The two older Volvo's (960 & S70) are destined for Sale once we get around to doing so and our soft top Mitsubishi Cordia will also be sold once we do some panel repairs.

Rear wiper arm is sitting wrong, either it has been removed and refitted incorrectly, or the rear wiper motor is bad and went past it's stop

Wheels are in remarkably good shape

Minor scrape on front bumper on the front right

Has Rear AC, great

Test each and every speaker, sometimes the woofers in the doors blow. User Fader and Balance to isolate each channel and test it. Remember the D-Pillar tweeters!

Check 3rd row goes up and down OK

Paint looks almost too good on some panels, check for accident damage

Interesting what swiss says about paint. I see on the very first picture the gap between the front door and fender seems too large.

Rear brake drums have a strange wear, typical of an issue with lack of braking pressure (problem with the ABS valve module?)

These engines have sometimes a problem

Unless I'm misreading the ad, it's sold.

We drove 2 1/2 hours only to find it had sold 15 mins before we arrived.
A "higher power" may have decided 6 cars for two people is not necessary

The car was still there and we were able to walk around.
Looked OK for the the price however when the Valet got in to drive it from the showroom she jumped out complaining of the smell.
Maybe the new owner will need to replace some carpets ?

All was not lost as we meet up with another volvoforum member who converted our 2010 V70 from Japanese to English. Much appreciated.

Thanks for your advice. One day we will have a XC90.
