Auriga Fitment
Hi all,
Was just wondering if I could get Aurigas to fit onto my 850 T5. I know they're the same diameter at 16", same width, offset is slightly lower at 49 but that wouldn't make a difference. I have read something about the Aurigas having special bolts though? We had some on my Dads 740 when I was growing up and they were one of my favourite wheels (still are). Any ideas? Cheers, Cookeh

They have the rwd offset which is around 20mm more than on your 850 so will stick out more. There might be an issue of the wheels catching on the arches.
Like most Volvo alloys they have steel inserts around the bolt holes so standard Volvo wheel nuts should be fine.

Is the offset not 49? Against the 43 of the 850s wheels. Should mean that they sit 6mm closer to the strut and have 6mm poke less, right?
Or am I mistaking et with offset?

The offset is +20mm as opposed to +43mm on the fwd cars.
The offset of a wheel is the distance from the hub mounting surface to the centre line of the wheel. This pic might help:

The one link I found for the Auriga stated an offset of 49. May I ask where you got the offset of 20 from? I have been looking for these wheel specs for ages and I'd love to get proper sizings...!

Usually RWD wheels have a smaller offset than FWD wheels so i would expect the 850 to have a larger offset and fitting RWD wheels will make them stick out if this is the case. This site is useful : https://www.carlsalter.com/wheel_fitments.html If you can get them on without arch fouling and/or suspension fouling at full lock and without poking out of the arches (MoT failure for a start) then go for it. If not, are there any FWD versions of them or a similar wheel?

The offset is the same or similar to that of the Galaxies I now have on my 940, allowing for the fact that the Aurigas are 6.5" x 16" and the Galaxies are 7" x 16" with 20mm offset.
Look here: https://accessories.volvocars.com/Le...R_GB_NL_DE.pdf Starting on page 254 you can see all the wheel options for the 9xx range. All the wheels suitable for the 960 (95+), S90 and V90 have the fwd (43mm) offset and will fit your 850. All wheels for the earlier rwd models have a 20mm offset. It doesn't specifically state this for the Auriga but it must be true.

Yeah, no chance of fitting if it is the 20 or 25 offset. Would on the rear but not the front.
Thanks muchly for the listing of wheels, very useful bit of info and finally answered that question after a few days. Sadly nothing similar, ah well... Guess that's that plan done.

Aurigas are 16x6.5 ET25, same as Hydras. Only 7" wide wheels were ET20.
Here's an 850 on Hydras. Arches need to be rolled a little bit. 850 on Polaris 17x7 ET20, so even further out. Arches need to be rolled and the biggest tyres that will fit without rubbing are 205/40/17.

Gosh those Hydras look amazing on the 850. That and Aurigas are a pipe dream now, to possibly be done when I have the money for the mods!
