Charging cable that plugs into the 16A IP44 Socket
I did a search could not find anything really.
I want to charge car XC60 T8 from a round blue 3 pin 16A IP44 socket (Industrial Plug socket) Does this lead come with the car? is there a lead even available? Thanks |

You can buy a type 2 charging cable but I dont think that the supply end terminates in a 16amp external 3 pin that you have and it sounds like you just have a power outlet and not a charging box.

Mode 3 cable is no use as you only have a power outlet with no charging control box.

Ok. So to try and explain.
You need a charger. There is no charger in the car. You can either use the mode 2 charger lead that Volvo supply or buy something like a PodPoint. Mode 2 charger lead will charge up to 10amps. It has a moulded 13amp plug. Mode 3 lead is designed to be connected to a charging box like the pod point (although my pod point at work has its own connected lead already). People typically have them in the boot to plug in to public chargers when out and about. You have a 16amp supply. This is just a source of 230v 16amp electricity. It is not a charger. So. Either charge at up to 10amps with the volvo mode 2 charging lead or charge at up to 13 amps with a PodPoint or similar. The fact you have a 16amp supply is largely irrelevant. The car will only charge at up to 3kw which for all intents and purposes is 13amp. Podpoint is about 500 quid. Volvo lead was free for me so assume still so. Strangely considering your initial question the shape of the plug is actually the easiest thing to understand or change!
