Default where to order exhaust for 940 estate?

Hi, everyone..just wondering if anyone has any tips for ordering the exhaust system on my P-reg 940 petrol estate, please? GSF and Euro Car Parts are a little useless when it comes to this..I am probably needing all of the exhaust from the exhaust manifold onwards, except Cat, please? Even a diagram or pics of the parts needed to show a supplier would be helpful. Many thanks.

Downpipe you are SOL. Second hand original or pattern parts only. Cats2U do a downpipe in stainless which is unusual, made by BM Catalysts, don't know how good they are.

If your car is a turbo I will dig out the order number for you. Edit ! just realised if it's catback it doesnt matter if it's turbo or N/A

Part number is 31392962

I paid just under £200 including delivery just over a year ago
Think that includes the brackets and rubbers too.

Hi Frank,

Sorry to hear you’ve had problems sourcing exhaust, I have no direct experience of exhaust parts, but a good supplier for all Volvo bits is FRF Volvo main dealer in Swansea. They have a deal with the VOC, just quote discount code C000003 if I recall correctly.

Discount varies on what parts supplied, but I had cooling system bits and ranged from 5% to 35%

Importantly they supply genuine Volvo parts, and can get from Sweden if needed.

Best way is to email Chris Harris in parts team, just do email with your vehicle details and importantly the VIN in the reference bar, outline what you are after and Chris will normally do all the parts hunting.

Contact is chrisharris@frf-motors.co.uk or parts telephone is 01792 790066 although I only use email to enquire as telephone is very busy. You do have to phone to make card payment but do initial query first on email.

Link to Genuine Classic Parts that has parts lists for Volvo models, good to save and refer to, but I have never quite been brave enough to rely on my translation of codes as so many different options.

https://catalog.gcp.se/

Hopefully Chris can sort you out, good luck👍

Cheers
Steve

Really good timing as I recently re-sealed my piecemeal exhaust and thought a harmonious, single-origin exhaust might be a more suitable thing...

Default Stainless steel

After having had to replace my exhaust every 3 to 4 year I was so fed up that I bought a stainless steel one from Ferrita. They do two models, a normal one and a "sport" model. I opted for the standard model. It is perfect, both in fitting as well as silencing, I cannot say anything else. Might be that for delivery to the UK you have to contact Ferrita in Sweden directly.
I understood that Jetex makes SS exhausts in the UK for the 700/900 series as well. No experience with them, might be easier for you to get hold of. I would give it serious consideration, even though SS is more expensive, as I understand the aftermarket quality of mild steel ones is quite moderate.
For complete spare parts list with diagrams: https://catalog.gcp.se/p/volvo-940/v...7/6482/1074304, exhausts starting at page 346.

FRF Swansea are almost certainly your best bet to source a genuine Volvo cat-back system at a good price. However, you might be a bit disappointed at the quality. Volvo OEM is not what it used to be.

I recently ordered a downpipe from Skandix having read this article.

https://www.skandix.de/en/news/downp...00-turbo/2291/

I am impressed by the quality but it is expensive, and unnecessarily so because Skandix never seem to get their handling of VAT right on higher value orders to the UK which means you can end up paying it twice unless you complain.

For any car I wanted to keep, I'd always go for stainless steel.

I made my own on my 340 and 740, but I do have the ability to weld stainless steel at home.

For my 560SEL, I got a local place (infinity exhausts) to make a complete stainless system for it as it wasn't one I wanted to tackle myself.
They did a beautiful job, and the exhaust looks and sounds OEM (no boy racer fart cannons!).

Might be worth looking into that option too as it wasn't much more expensive than a mild steel replacement system would have been!
