Hi
I have just found my remote detached from the key ring as the small plastic flexi strap in between it and the fob has snapped, are these straps replaceable please or can I get a similar fob and swap the internals, it's the the 2 light grey button fob from a 97 Celebration. Thanks Bob |

Unhappily it has snapped so close to the fob that I don't think I can get a cable tie to attach, unless I take it apart, is it OK to open the 2 halves of the casing?

yes they come apart fine . does anything rattle inside ? ( A small capacitor can come unsoldered and rattle and affect the operation )

Thanks Clan.
Got a largish cable tie and cut the head down to form a spade end and drilled a hole to take the locating pin, just like the original, bit of fine adjustment to the tie end with the grind stone and she clipped together just fine, then I cut to length and folded over to form an eye , drilled and pop riveted and Roberts your Mothers Brother. Cheers Bob |

BE CAREFUL. When this happened to me, I took the two halves apart, removed the broken bit of the strap, made a hole in what was left or the remaining strap, clicked it all back together again..............
It's never worked since. God knows what I did wrong, but I've ended up chucking it and just use the key now. Good Luck

Ohhhh - you can still get new ones of this type btw, (it's the early type that is now NLA), they are about £50 + VAT from Volvo.

Bondloc do an adhesive that will stick the strap back onto the fob - I've had to do it on mine. It's a cyano-based, fast-cure compound that apparently doesn't go off like most superglues do and the distributor I bought mine from suggest leaving it in the fridge until needed!
